A compact outdoor pool with a row of bright blue slides twirling into the water, has become a well-known image amongst liminal location communities. The small water-park sitting empty under a vivid cloudless sky, has generated a common sense of Anemoia, as if triggering a universal, core childhood memory.Â
The pool in question belongs to a highway hotel in India:Â Hotel Krishna, a short drive from Junagadh city.
It is a straightforward, modest hotel, whereby the mini water park seems by contrast – an elaborate feature. The surrounding area is laid in a grey-and-white checkered tile, with stark brick and concrete walls either side, that create a striking contrast to the vast blue sky above. Photographed empty, in midday sunlight, the scene has a slightly unreal, dreamlike, quality that embodies a feeling of nostalgia for childhood summers long gone.
