Stranded on the California–Nevada border, this large casino resort often runs at strikingly low occupancy, and was saved from closure in June 2026. The public areas are vast, featuring: low-lit atriums, long quiet corridors, and retro styled gaming floors that feel designed for crowds which never fully arrive. Located in the small border town of Primm, the resort (and the surrounding complex) frequently feels almost deserted. Empty parking lots stretch into the desert, and the scale of the public spaces compared with the number of guests creates an unsettling, yet nostalgic sense of a place caught between its intended glamour and quiet decline; like a “forgotten mini-Vegas”, constantly in limbo. The resort, strangely, also exhibits the bullet-riddled car Bonnie and Clyde were driving when they were killed.. for no discernable reason.
Key features include:
- Large-scale casino resort architecture with low occupancy
- Vast empty or half-empty public areas and atriums
- Desert border-town isolation
- Strong “built for crowds that never fully arrive” atmosphere
