A new boulevard of nearly identical two-storey houses in a repetitive color palette, sat upon rolling hills, at the edge of Richmond, Kentucky on Judah Bear Blvd. Referred to online as ‘Copy-Paste’ and ‘Barbie’ houses, this neighbourhood looks finished and not yet lived-in at the same time. Like something out the ‘Backrooms’ levels, or worse – one of those nightmares where you just keep going round in circles and can’t find your way out because everything around you looks the same. It’s the perfect liminal experience: as the houses themselves sit backed by open fields as far as the eye can see, yet remain devoid of any natural imperfection or individuality. It’s like being dropped inside a render of a ‘too-perfect’ neighbourhood.
