The famous rolling green hill and blue sky that served as the default wallpaper for Windows XP. Photographed in 1996, it became one of the most viewed images in history and remains a perfect example of the optimistic, clean, nature-meets-technology feeling that later evolved into Frutiger Aero. The hill is located in the Carneros wine region of Sonoma County, California, along Highway 121. At the time of the photograph the slope was covered in grass after vineyards had been removed due to phylloxera; it has since been replanted with vines, so the exact appearance has changed, but the location is still recognisable and frequently visited by fans.
