Wat Rong Khun (White Temple)
A contemporary Buddhist temple complex outside Chiang Rai, built entirely in glittering white and mirror mosaic, with a bridge over a “hell” pit of reaching hands.
Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church)
A small cemetery chapel in Kutná Hora whose lower chamber is decorated with the bones of tens of thousands of people. Chandeliers, pyramids, coats of arms and garlands, all made of skulls and femurs.
HallgrÃmskirkja
ReykjavÃk’s landmark Lutheran church: a tall, pale concrete tower that stands upon the hill of Skólavörðuholt, looms over the capital city and appears to pierce the (usually) grey sky above.
Wat Samphran Dragon Temple
Striking 17-storey pink cylindrical tower with a gigantic green dragon, coiled around it. Visitors can climb the hollow body of the dragon, emerging near the creature’s head at the top of the tower.
